A Fae in Finance: A Cozy Journey into the Magical Unknown
By [Your Name]

Ever had a book sneak up on you, wrapping you in its charm when you least expected it? I found that with A Fae in Finance by Juliet Brooks. The title alone made me chuckle, promising a delightful mix of fantasy and finance. As someone who’s often enchanted by the crossover of the mundane and the magical, I was eager to dive into Miri’s world. Spoiler alert: it did not disappoint!

At its heart, the story follows Miri, an investment banker whose life goes from numbers and spreadsheets to magical chaos when she becomes ensnared in the Faerie realm—thanks to one of her clients. Imagine juggling high-stakes negotiations against the backdrop of fae politics while dealing with frantic inner musings and a constant worry for her beloved cat, Doctor Kitten! Talk about cozy chaos.

One of the standout themes is the clash between the corporate world and the enchanting elements of Faerie. I loved how Miri’s relatable anxieties mirrored our own, even amidst fantastical situations. Her snarky humor came through robustly in first-person POV, making me feel like I was sharing a cup of coffee with a best friend as she regaled me with her misadventures.

The pacing was spot-on; I found myself fully immersed to the point where I devoured the entire book in one day—a testament to its peak escapism. I laughed out loud multiple times, which rarely happens for me. The humor is chef’s kiss—funny without feeling forced or silly. It creates a warm, comforting atmosphere that just makes you want to curl up with a hot drink and lose track of time.

Brooks has a knack for crafting memorable quotes that linger well after the last page. Two particular lines made me snort with laughter:

“The voice in my head, which is of the dual opinions that violence solves everything and that I am bad at violence, growled.”

“I felt a rush of affection for the toilet, worthy of a refrigerator magnet poem (ah, my acquaintance, your tender caress; ah, my companion in misery).”

These gems showcase Miri’s quirky perspective and her ability to find humor even in bizarre circumstances. The melding of modern life with a fantasy realm shines brilliantly throughout the narrative, leading to some hilariously revealing miscommunications.

As a cozy read, it’s perfect for anyone who enjoys lighthearted fantasy, romcoms, or even just wants a delightful escape from the everyday grind. While there’s a lovely hint of romance, it doesn’t dominate the plot, allowing Miri’s journey of self-discovery and adaptation to take center stage.

I went in with four stars but am bumping it up to five simply because the thought of it still brings a smile to my face. I don’t often revisit stories, but this one is definitely an exception.

So, if you’re ready for a well-crafted trip into Faerie filled with snarky humor, relatable characters, and a dash of whimsy, grab A Fae in Finance on its release date, October 21, 2025. Trust me; it will be worth it—your inner cat lady (and those longing for adventure) will thank you!
